KENS 5 San Antonio reports that former Major League pitcher and Dallas sports talk-show host and producer Mike Bacsik, Jr., was fired by KTCK (The Ticket 1310) for some racist comments he made on his personal Twitter account . Bacsik (BASS-ik, which is pronounced like the fish) had been suspended by the station the day before and apology statements were released by Bacsik and also the station, but KTCK decided to finalize the separation. According to the Dallas Morning News, Mike Bacsik directed the following tweet at San Antonio Spurs fans after a recent NBA Playoffs victory by the Dallas Mavericks over the Spurs: “Congrats to all the dirty Mexicans in San Antonio.” Now he will probably need payday loans.
Mike Bacsik (aka ‘Chew-Bacsik’) one more Twitter casualty.
Athletes and other entertainers such as Mike Bacsik have a hard time determining either how Twitter works or what is socially appropriate to broadcast across the web. If it’s not one superstar posting nude pictures or betraying signs of emotional disorder, it will be an additional public figure like Mike Bacsik – dubbed “Chew-Bacsik” by KTCK staff spouting off racist smack. Apparently individuals can't figure out the internet doesn't just live in our lives and is very public, including Twitter. That is apparently the reason why organizations such as Major League Baseball istaking it upon themselves to play “Big Brother” when it comes to how their employees use Twitter . A small amount of instructing will conserve a business from many embarrassment making MLB's policy a pretty good thing.
Apparently Mike Bacsik doesn’t have a problem with black people
On Aug. 7, 2007, Mike Bacsik surrendered Barry Bonds’ 756th home run, which broke the 33-year-old record for career home runs held by Hall of Famer Henry “Hammerin’ Hank” Aaron. Bacsik didn't just tip his cap to Bonds as a show of respect, but he also went to the San Francisco Giants’ clubhouse after the game to shake hands with Barry. An interesting historical side note is that Mike Bacsik Sr. (Bacsik’s father) also pitched within the Major Leagues, and on August 23, 1976, he faced Hank Aaron at the plate. At the time, Aaron had 755 career home runs. So potentially, both Mike Bacsik Jr. and Sr. could have surrendered number 756. Anyway, it would have been worth instant cash loans to them on memorabilia circuit.
