Thomas Hagan, Malcolm X Assassin, Released From Prison

On Feb. 21, 1965, civil rights leader Malcolm X was shot to death at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem during a speaking engagement. The prime over within the shooting was Thomas Hagan although three men were arrested for the crime. Hagan served for the crime for 44 years. Thomas Hagan is 69 years old, was previously known as Talmadge Hayer, or Talmadge X Hayer, and was granted parole after a dozen requests and probably a payday loans or two for legal expenditures.

The assassination of Malcolm X

Malcolm X took the podium at the Audubon Ballroom on that day in 1965. As he was beginning to address the crowd, a disturbance broke out within the audience. As he tried to calm the situation, Thomas Hagan, and then Talmadge Hayer, shot him in the chest with a sawed off shotgun at point blank range. Two handguns from two other men began to shot him. Malcolm X was shot more than 16 times and was dead just after his arrival at the Columbia Presbyterian Hospital at 3:30. Hagan was the only person who confessed to the crime after being severely beaten by the crowd and being arrested.

The two other gunmen

Two others were arrested, Thomas 15X and Norman 3X, now known as Khalil Islam and Muhammed Abdul Aziz. Both have stayed out of jail as Hagan has always said they had nothing to do with the crime. Even low interest loans into more investigations yielded no results in finding who the other gunmen were. Both of them were paroled within the mid 1980s.

The shooting is over ecumenical split

In 1964, Malcolm X had split from the Nation of Islam, which he had been a member of for a dozen years. The shooting was due to some tensions between him and Elijah Muhammad, who was the leader. Hagan said that was why himself and conspirators shot him down.

Thomas Hagan repents, is of course 17th try at parole

Hagan has expressed regret over the shooting according to the Los Angeles Times . He was given his appeal for parole after 17 times of trying. As outlined by New York Times, He is married, has a daughter, and since 1988 has been on work release, working in a fast food restaurant among other endeavors .
