Nurses Day Not Far As Nurses Week 2010 Begins

Nurses Week 2010 will start May 6. Nurses Week 2010 starts May 6 and goes until May 12, which is Nurses Day. These individuals work hard, and also the members of this noble profession are deserving of some recognition. They toil day and night at hospitals, emergency rooms, and clinics at all hours of the day, all over the world. Though some a lot more instant cash loanswould be nice too, some recognition is more than reasonable for their efforts.

Nurses Week 2010 starts May 6, ends on Nurses Day

Nurses Week 2010 will start May 6, as it generally does. Nurses Week 2010 ends on May 12, as always. May 12 is really Florence Nightingale’s birthday. As numerous of us recall, she was a pioneer within the field and had an enormous hand in giving birth to the nursing profession.

When did it start?

It all began in 1953, when President Eisenhower was lobbied to create a day for nurses, as outlined by the American Nurses Association website. It didn’t pass muster with Ike, but the next year an informal observance of Nurses Week was held, in remembrance of Florence Nightingale’s service in the Crimean War. The first to officially proclaim a Nurses Week was Richard Nixon, in 1974. That said, the International Council of Nurses first began observing the day in 1965, and in January of 1974 proclaimed International Nurses Day on May 12, in honor of Florence Nightingale.

Nurses Day has been May 12 ever since

May 12 has been Nurses Day ever given that, though various state governments have proclaimed May 6 as Nurses Day. It was expanded to an entire Nurses Week in 1990. They deserve the accolades. They deserve our recognition and acknowledgment, just like Teacher Appreciation Week.
