NAACP warns The United States about Tea Party tolerance of racism

The NAACP and also the Tea Party are at it again. Last summer the NAACP passed a solution denouncing racial discrimination in the Tea Party and a new report submitted by the organization reinforces that resolution. The grass roots movement has allowed extremists that consist of racists and neo-Nazis to express themselves politically, according to a National Association for the Advancement of Colored People white paper with the title “Tea Party Nationalism”.

Discovering a great deal of Tea Party Nationalism

The NAACP record on Tea Party Nationalism points out alleged ties among some Tea Party factions and “acknowledged racist hate groups.”. What most people probably won’t notice is the NAACP Tea Party report makes a point that it isn’t throwing a blanket allegation over the movement as a whole. President of NAACTP, Ben Jealous made a forward to the report. He said that “sincere, principled people of goodwill,” tend to be who Tea Party members are. However, he goes on to say that Tea Party Nationalism sheds light on connections between some known racist groups linked to the Tea Party that “should give all patriotic Americans pause.”.

Bad people nevertheless in the Tea Party

The NAACP Tea Party report refers to signs at Tea Party rallies containing racial epithets about President Obama. Tea Party members shouted racial slurs during a 2010 March protest. Tea Party Nationalism explains that this had been against the health care bill. Tea Party leaders were challenged by Jealous to denounce the protests that have racism in them. He also asked that they denounce links to the “birthers” who say Obama is not a United States citizen and the racial discrimination within the protests.

What solution happened with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People Tea Party

The NAACP Tea Party feud started at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People convention in Kansas City last July when NAACP members voted on a resolution condemning the Tea Party for racism. The NAACP had been called racist by some of the Tea Party members due to the media fight that started. Much like Wednesdays Tea Party Nationalism report, the NAACP Tea Party resolution said the presence of racism in the Tea Party originated from a couple of bad actors and called on Tea Party leaders to clean up its act. There were many within the Tea Party that said there would not be any racism although they also admitted that racist activity took place at Tea Party rallies.
