Great The Other Guys review

Friday was when the film “The Other Guys” came out. The movie has actors Mark Wahlberg, Steve Coogan and Will Ferrell in it. The reviews for “The Other Guys” tended to lean on the optimistic side. Both the leading actors (Ferrell and Wahlberg) had some misfires within the last few years, and consensus among critics is “The Other Guys” is a step in the right direction. The movie was directed by the director of “Anchorman,” “Talledega Nights” and “Stepbrothers,” who is Adam McKay. Old plot with new people in ‘The Other Guys’

Within the movie, after shooting Derek Jeter by accident, a cop (Wahlberg) is given work that he is way too good for. He is reassigned to white collar crime, where he partners up with an awkward geek, Will Ferrell as a forensic accountant. They get wise to an evil businessman (Steve Coogan) and his nefarious scheme and take him down. It is definitely a comedy. It’s been done before, but every plot has been done. It’s the personalities that make the main difference between studios losing money or striking box office gold.

Reviews better than expected

On Rotten Tomatoes, reviews put the movie at 79 percent. Ferrell just lately starred in “The Goods,” and “Land of the Lost”, both of which got less than 30 percent in their ratings. Wahlberg has been doing poorly too considering he hasn’t had a film since 2007 get more than a 32 percent. Critics think the movie is idiotic humor although it is nevertheless good. According to Kurt Loder from MTV, the movie is not all that wise but is a great comedy for summer.

Try watching it

If you’re within the mood for a goofy comedy, then this may be just what the doctor ordered. Many Americans may just need this amusing movie with all of the grim things happening in the economy.
